The body chemistry will reward you by chemical typhoons of feel good chemicals in accordance with your actions. Reason is important but we are governed by emotion and most of our decisions will not be made by appealing to the rational. You are supposed to be a part of the group, although the group now is much larger than the initial tribes the brain was constructed for. Each time you are generous, kind, caring, when you show compassion, love or understanding, it loops back onto you via the biochemistry that makes you up.

It is not coincidental that the most well developed technological era in human history is equally the one where we feel most isolated and as a consequence have become the most addicted bunch that ever walked the planet. All addiction is a way to fill a void, to introduce the chemical reward system by force if it is not given through regular life experiences. Regardless of the instant interconnectedness and the telematics of being able to transmit your thoughts to the other side of the globe instantaneously, as Marshal McLuhan said – the medium itself becomes the message. And the message is isolation under the disguise of barren hyper sociality reducing most interactions you have through the day into meaningless trinkets of nothingness. You were built to be social from the get go. A species that cooperates diversifies the risks and strengthens its chances to spread. Evolution doesn’t play around. It may take her a while to get somewhere but he doesn’t waste resources. If something is there it is there because it is supposed to be. All that is useless gets cleaned out or shut down in the gene game and subsequently produced genotypes and its phenotypical mutations that interact with the environment.

There is this deep metaphysical implication here that you were designed like this, that you actually evolved into unity with all others. You were made to help, to be a cog in the advancement of all and not a self-serving machine for gluttonous selfish chase of singular purposes. No one can do it alone nor should they – it doesn’t matter if you have nothing in common in the trivia of nationality, gender, orientation, social status… you’re alive and conscious, that is enough. Life is here to support life.
