It really really doesn’t! Not a bit! You made it matter in order to create drama and have something to whine about. Have you ever noticed how people who have a lot to do, after some time, seem more calm and more balanced – they’ve developed the mechanisms of mental self-preservation and realized what DOESN’T MATTER and what does. They have no time to react to everything, to chase every barking dog and dissipate their energies into meaningless tasks and battles leading nowhere, producing nothing good or positive. They simply stop doing it, and the world continues on spinning.

It doesn’t matter, most of it doesn’t, so why do you keep giving it attention? That internet warfare you’re leading in the comments section on something trivial, the woman at the bakery who gave you the evil eye and judged your breakfast choice, that mean email you got, or the information you were waiting for and didn’t get, your kid having a tantrum, the off the cuff remarks of loved ones that push buttons… You’ll not change anything by fighting in the comments, the other side is not even listening, just looking for a fight; the woman in the bakery may be having a rough morning, you have no idea what’s going on, be kind, don’t let it rub off on you; the email says more of the person sending it and their inability to be civil and can be disregarded not giving more power to it; start your work without that information that never came, or don’t, or find the information yourself; the tantrum will pass; the buttons can be pushed only if there is something unresolved inside you below the button – you don’t need to justify your choices, relationships and dreams to anyone no matter how much (say) they love you.

Stop staggering around aimlessly like a dry sponge soaking up every triviality form your surroundings. 99% of the things you worry and stress about don’t matter… at all! And you sacrifice your sanity for them missing the 1% that really does make a lasting impact. How long will this thing you’re worrying about now be relevant -5 minutes, an hour, a week? Do you need to give you attention to it? Clarify your goals and tune your life accordingly so that it supports them. All else is white noise. Thinking clearly in a world designed to distract you will be one of the hardest things you’ll have to learn, and the most precious one.
