You share most of your genome with anything alive and carbon based. So you’re up there at the very high correlation percentiles with the chimpanzees, sharing 96% of your genome but you also share 60% of it with a banana. On a biological level the only thing that distinguishes you as even remotely special are the newer structures of the brain which allow for more complex behavior, understanding of action and consequence, planning ahead and manipulating abstract ideas so they can serve us.
One of the magnificent edges we’ve been given by this evolutionary gift is the capacity for language, to create notions about things and relationships between them and distinguish the past, present and future. What language does is it translates all things into a series of signs that stand in for real. It piles on meanings and emotional charge to things and symbolizes what cannot be shown, allowing you to speak of things such as the metaphysical realm or philosophy. You become conscious by understanding the notions of the world, the congruent sign groups around every object, emotion and situation that give it various facets of meaning. The more complex the coherent group of signs around something is, the deeper we go into understanding and the more power we have to manipulate (our) reality by using linguistic programing to our advantage. Language could be used to empower or disempower ourselves. You’ll get programed into it either way, so why not do it deliberately and do well. Don’t be an accidental product due to the lack of effort. There is this idea that the fall from grace is directly linked to the indoctrination in a certain culture by learning the language, but if it is unavoidable to get fragmented (at least for a while) from the eternal oneness, then learn to use language to your own advantage – speak yourself into being!
How you talk to yourself and the language constructs you use matter more than you’d ever think. We tend to believe our own lies and become who we are telling ourselves we (can/are allowed) to be. The subconscious part of you that will govern most of you final actions will take the words spoken and program itself accordingly. It cannot distinguish if you real meant it or not, it just takes it as real. Imagine introducing little changes that completely change the scope of how you see yourself. Be very deliberate with how you speak because you can just as easily speak yourself into being or oblivion. So no you’re not depressed, it’s not a central part of you – you have depression (a temporary setback that can be eliminated). You don’t say you want to lose weight because we search for what we’ve lost in some way or other, you released it (let it go, have no more use for its protection). You don’t say to your kid they’ve been a bad boy/girl if they did something wrong, but you say they did a bad thing (the isolated event is bad, it is not who they are a their core). You don’t ask for things by saying “I want you to…” but ask “Would you be so kind…”
Language is power and, in addition to the body, one of the most versatile tools you’ve been given to make this experience of life free and beautiful, to transform and heal yourself. Speak to yourself as if you were someone you loved, speak to others in a way that empowers and not drains or diminishes them. The language you choose to use will shape your life, relationships, outlook, mindset… So speak yourself into being… In the beginning was the Word.
