The magnificent Spanish painter has nothing to do with this, but our enchanted principle is that of the GOYA idea set forth by the wildly successful entrepreneur John Assaraf and it stands as an acronym for the fundamental principle of a well lived life – “Get Of Your Ass”.
There is no amount of talent and ability the muses can endow you with that can substitute and push out actual effort and work. No visualization or emotionalizing as powerful as actually doing something to get closer to the goal. if you twirl your thumbs away there is no star to wish upon, or fairy to magic dust it into being for you. Visualizing and believing are necessary of course, but just as the starting points which put in you in the right mindset to know what to move towards once you start moving, but move you must. Moving is not optional. Gestate the idea for a while if you have to but then take action. It’s a very simple life principle that levels the playing field – nothing works if you don’t. You cannot outsource this, cannot wait it out and pray, wish and hope your days away in expectance of a miracle. There is only one magic that even has a chance of manifesting what you want – GOYA. The “A” space of your person was made only as a cushiony rest stop in between bursts of effort. Its purpose is to make regeneration a bit more comfortable on a hard surface, not a space you’ll make your permanent address.
The world is littered with talent that was never put to use due to laziness and taking shortcuts. There are books never written, stories never told, ideas that could have made a difference, scientific breakthroughs for the benefit of all, gourmet meals never cooked, gardens never started, songs never sung, companies never started, products that never saw the light of day, associations never helping those they could have… If you’ve got something you believe is good and worthwhile, if you know what it is you should be doing to ignite all the potential inside to work in unison, if you have that space at the crossroads of loving to do it and being damn good at it that puts you into a flow state, do something about it. At least try. There is far greater nobility in trying than in letting it slowly wither away.
The magic and effect of GOYA is cumulative. Small actions fuse into a large change over time. You may not be able to see the end game just now, but you’re not supposed to – what fun would that be knowing the outcome before you even started. Give your days some dignity by putting time and energy into something – no matter what it is in your particular instance. DO something good! Can you see any other way of spending your time here better?
