That ice-cream, yogurt, the staple glass of milk at the breakfast table you need to finish, the milk and cream in your coffee, the cheese on your pizza, the parmesan cheese that makes everything better…
Something went a bit wrong here with our culture’s dietary guidelines and it may be seen as absurd or perverted were we to fast forward a few centuries. It’s a bit disturbing when you start thinking about it. We are the only species on the planet that continues to regularly drink milk once were weaned and the only species that willingly seeks out the milk of another species. Not only that, we’ve actually made it one of the most important segments of our diet. It might have been ok here and there in the past when the path from the cow (old grass-fed breeds which lived in the open) to the table was a few feet or for communities which needed the fats from this full rich milk to survive in the areas other food sources were scarce or winters rendered them unavailable. You may enjoy a nice full fat cheese now and then but the food pyramids of the West are incredibly wrong.
There is no correlation with milk consumption and bone density what so ever, in fact there is a higher risk of age-related brittles in those who consume large quantities of dairy due to the animal pertaining it. The Calcium, so long advertised as the pawn to battle osteoporosis is far less important than vitamin D. Movement and resistance exercises prevent loss of bone density far better, as the newest programs for humans in space have concluded. Dairy entices the disruption in the system and an overgrowth of insulin-like growth factor 1 which is a known cancer promotor and, were there 4 of you at a table enjoying tub of ice cream, statistically 3 of you will not be able to properly and fully digest it and are lactose intolerant to some extent. 75% of the world’s population can’t break down lactose because, as we grow up and have no need to digest our mother’s milk any more, we lose the enzymes necessary to break it down. If you’re eating any semblance of a regular western diet there is a large chance your gut microbiome is already decimated and compromised by the amount of sugar, grains and other inflammation causing foods as fried vegetable oils, food dyes, additives, pesticides and antibiotics, heavy metals aka leftovers from what was sprayed directly on food, given to the industrially raised animals or circulated up the food chain due to pollution and the amount of chemicals dumped into the sea, air or soil. If you don’t have a healthy microbiome and are not one of the quarter of world population that doesn’t have a problem with lactose, irritable bowel syndrome and leaky gut is extremely aggravated by dairy. When the gut lining goes, the whole immune system crumbles and inflammation cascades, aging you rapidly, accumulating beta amyloid plack in the body, causing autoimmune disease, cancer, hypertension, brain fog, Alzheimer’s, cardio vascular issues, diabetes, you mitochondria get senescent and damaged, your telomeres shorten because the body is depleted by constantly fighting wide spread inflammation….
Start paying attention to how you feel after a lot of dairy and take good care of your GI tract. It’s your second brain and every single function in your body is dependant in long term on its proper function. If your gut (pun intended) tells you dairy is wrong for you try a few weeks without it and see what happens. All of the contraindications and risks are too high of a price to pay for a milk moustache or a stringy gooey sticky melted cheese pizza. Fix the gut and you’ve fixed 90% of your issues. You don’t need as much dairy as you think if any at all.
