– is a famous sentence of a very well put together intellect of Jim Rohn. It’s a sentence that encapsulates the unnecessary cowardice of willing victimhood and constant whining at the conditions the world has set in front of you. It shows the obstacle or a problem for what it is when you peel off all of the excuses you’ve constructed around why you can’t do it to deal with the shame of never really trying. It shows things as they are – an opportunity to improve, grow and get better.

No, don’t wish it were easier. Would you like to be safe or strong? Mind you, you cannot choose both, because eternal safety makes you weak and unable to cope with change and fluctuation that is a natural part of all things, therefore eternal safety makes you ill equipped for life itself. Wish you were better and then don’t stop just at wishful thinking but take active steps to look at where you are now, where you want to be and who you need to become in order to get there and fill the gap by what needs to be there, do what needs to be done. No excuses – they are just a method of procrastination that makes you seem weak and incompetent and chip away at your self-respect. If you don’t know how to do it, start exploring and learn, ask for help from someone who knows, find a way, allocate time slots to it so you can’t brush it off. If you don’t understand it well enough – read from various sources and come to your own conclusions. If it is hard – start practicing and watch it become easier in each try as the muscles and the neurons begin to reconnect and rearrange. If you have no idea where to start – any place you start is equally valid as long as you start, the route will open up once you start.

Why in the world would you wish it were easier? What would that accomplish but a temporary relief and then boredom, monotony and stagnation? You think that responsibility free bliss would be an ideal existence? There is nothing there but wasted days. No responsibility or effort brings about meaninglessness and you cannot handle life if it carries no meaning, and here you’ll start to get, bitter, angry and cruel. Wish you were better at every difficulty you encounter. Once you change the point of view on what you’re looking at the thing itself changes. Blessings will, through your experiences here, get pretty good at masking themselves as problems. So you have some of those now, don’t you? Good! It means you have something of value and a chance to be better. Don’t waste it.
