Where? Where ever it is that you want to go. It’s your dream, we don’t judge. You might want to herd sheep on the mountain, become a kick ass baker or a CEO, a better mother, wife, husband, friend, start a business, build a legacy… First things first – No one knows enough to do it all alone but there is internal work to be done. So what will you need to rise up?
*** SELF REGULATION – control your emotions and impulses or else they will not hesitate to control you and you’ll wake up being a slave to temporary gratifications. Do what has to be done not what you feel like doing.
*** GROWTH MINDSET – be curios, listen, see and pick up all you can. You don’t have the time to make all of our mistakes by yourself. Whatever happens happens; you may not be able to control the situation but you can control if it is a lesson.
*** RESILIENCE – you’ll need this one if you’re building something and trying to grow. Mistakes will be a part of the journey, unfairness and hardship as well. Toughen up, grow a thicker skin over the soft interior. Learn to handle things and deal with the unplanned. No one ever said it will be easy. The only promise was that it will be worth it.
*** EMPATHY – If you understand what others want and need you can give it to them and tweak your goal to serve many instead only you. Give enough people what they want without doing any harm and you can have what you want.
*** CONSCIENTIOUSNESS – Nothing works if you don’t. Be consistent, don’t cut corners or weasel yourself through the easier path. Do it the best you can, revise, analyze, regroup and repeat. Nothing worth having is an instant shake and bake trinket.
*** OPENESS TO EXPERIENCE – you might not like uncharted waters and the no man’s land of fearing the unknown, but this is unavoidable. You’ll face things you have no idea how to handle… and you’ll figure it out, growing through the experience.
*** SOCIAL SKILLS – No matter how good what you do or have is it is equal to non-existence if no one knows about it. We are social to the core and nature did this on purpose. Groups have more chances of surviving than individuals alone. Learn to present yourself and your work with intelligence, dignity, openess and respect for all.
