Collective energy is no joke. It affects you, you are shaped, consumed and marked by it, and you can feel it building up all around you for New Year’s. In reality it is just a few numbers shifting at the line where you date your documents, but in the realm of non-physical the fact remains that you’re somehow sucked into the vortex. So you’ll put it all to the test according to who you know you could be if you just put some effort in. You’ll assess all of the bad habits, the wrongdoings, the pain you’ve caused deliberate or by accident or neglect to yourself or others, you’ll measure the growth and advancements and best you know how and deem the last year successful in your own book, according to what you hold to be valuable.
So after all of this in ideal case you’ll set up a sketch of who you’d like to see yourself becoming in the next revolution (isn’t it the name of the orbit around the Sun that consists a year just perfectly on point. You’ll be in a way cleaned and inspired by this illusory clean slate of clocks reverting back to zero on Jan 1st and promise you’ll turn it all around. And you won’t. Not because you’re weak or incompetent but because this is just not how change works. Change sticks by accumulating small incremental improvements over time, changing the lifestyle and a mindset along with the action. You don’t just wake up one day a different person, you work at it so that each time you’re faced with a choice you take the one that is slightly better for you, no matter the instant gratification siren call of the easier one. Resolutions will fail because you cannot change it all at once, the emotions have no means of catching up to that. They will fail because you have the course of action down but haven’t given enough thought to the WHY you want this. Will you start eating better and exercising regularly so you can have a bikini body by summer or because you’ll like to not lose your breath and feel like you’re on the verge of heart attack when you’re running around with your kids. Will you say “No” to things because you want to be begged or seem strong and independent or because you seriously have to limit the grasp some people and situations have on your time, energy and life. Will you help others so you can brag about your philanthropy or because you’ve finally realized that helping others is the main gateway to helping yourself?
Get you why in order no matter what date the calendar is showing. The energy gathered at the see-saw of the year is only enough to serve as activation energy and start the motion, but it will take something far deeper and more self-generated to sustain it. We wish you all you wish for yourself in the year to come, we wish you change and growth in each month as you see fit and a judgement free attitude for all the things you failed to do. There is always tomorrow, try again. Thank you for being with us this past year and we love you all.
