Yes you are! Look at yourself still being here, reading this now, trying to learn and get better. It was not an easy path, you’ve been given some things and lost some things. You’ve loved more than you thought possible and it fell through, relationships died, people died, you’ve had to exert super human strength at times just to keep going, to keep standing still, get out of bed and not crumble into a million pieces or to reassemble yourself back together after you did. You’ve had tragedies, personal and private and public and in business ones. You’ve walked around on those days when life felt like someone cut you open, threw bags and bags of broken glass into your insides, sown you back up and sent you on your way. You’ve been to the abyss and back and are stronger for it. So as Jordan Peterson said – “You are so damn tough you can’t believe it!” And this is true.

Just like Illness the fairness of life is not very choosy. It does not care if you worked for it, if you invested all you have in it, It’s just an arbitrary evet, occurrence, sometimes it will be fair and sometimes it won’t, sometimes your hard work will pay, sometimes you’ll be left dangling nowhere. But the thing is we love the people in our lives not despite their weaknesses and vulnerability, but because of them. This vulnerability is what made them tough, that openness to be touched by things around you made you and them fight because love goes through the same emotional channels.

So if you have kids, after a certain age, your job is not to protect them anymore, but to expose them to as many things as possible and let them figure it out with your guidance. Your job is to teach them how to take life’s turns standing up not kneeling down, your job is to teach them by example how really tough and resilient the human spirit is. That is what you’re supposed to do, You won’t be able to constantly shield them from everything bad in the world but you can show them how to handle it even when you are not there to soften the blows. We’re all so much damn tougher that we ever thought we could be. You’re magnificent – the cuts, bruises, the whole shebang!
