It was never about the divide, about the crack between all things where something is described as being what it is solely by its differentiation from what it is not. It was never about the polarities you’ve been taught to see and fill the pigeon holes accordingly so the world would be easier to grasp. It was never about opposite parties when the core interest of both should be the same – people. It was never about the yin or yang part of the swirling symbol, the light or the dark, but the edges on which they touch each other as well as the dark bit in the light and vice versa. It was never about the beginning or the end but the thick juicy line in between. It was never about being fully awake or fully asleep, but about the hypnagogic band in between, the realm where you are not yet fully asleep but are losing grip on the physical reality and about the hypnopompic counterpart where you transition from sleep to wakefulness and just begin to be aware you’re “back” from wherever it was you went to.

The dichotomy split of life into simply black or white, good or bad, moral or immoral, useful or useless, successful or unsuccessful, love or hate, left or right… doesn’t work. The precipices is far too wide and contains far too much of life in the middle to be grasped only as its extremes. Nature does not deal in absolutes, it doesn’t care how you divide it. In no way does cutting something up in order to quantify it qualify as equal to that thing really being quantifiable. The measurement is just a method of trying to understand, as the polarities on opposite ends are just sketches of an idea you’re trying to grasp and not the truth of it. They are here to make it easier to swallow as no side alone holds the whole truth. She is buried in the middle of your categories.

Every single notion you so freely categorize is neutral and can be used as both. Object is just an object and can change depending on how it is used. Emotion is just an emotion, neutral until acted upon, fire can cook a wonderful meal or burn your house down and rain can make things grow or take it all with it in a fierce flood. People are not good. People are not bad. They are both and neither. Murder is not always a crime against nature and humanity if it releases from pain and suffering, love is not always grand if it is self-serving need for attention or conditional. You may have to leave people you love because it becomes codependent and stifling even if honest and true or stay where you don’t really love because something in them makes you better. You may break friendships rather than stay out of habit or deliberately stay because you’re not done learning from the situation. It’s all contextual, don’t be judgmental of others, you don’t know the whole story. There are very few things that can rightfully stand to be described as completely good or completely vile. Most of it is in a gray zone. Too much of a good thing can kill you just as easily as none at all.
