If you have no sense of style and aesthetics you’re pretty much done for! No, not style in a flimsy “OMG I will not get on style spotting, what’s IN/OUT blog, where’d you get those shoes fashionista ” kind of thing of the surface and glitter gazing nonsense of any such sort. But style in a deeper sense, style as elegance of thought, manner, concepts, ideas, of living well and fully not taking more than you need, appreciating beauty where you encounter it in all its transient spaces. Style here is that where you are sensitive enough in your person, in your mind, body and soul to recognize the beautiful cleanliness of an emotion, thought, construct, to see awe inspiring patterns in the seemingly random and to appreciate the world constructed as a whole story arising out of them. We can’t help but see, we acquire most of our information by our eyeballs and life on the outside should be constructed to fit the postulates built inside – As within, so without.

So focus on style, beauty and aesthetics of all things around you – material or immaterial alike. Why? Why not focus on truth or good? Because you can’t, not really. You were given beauty and the capacity to notice and enjoy it for a reason – It is a guide to something more, a portal to TRUTH and GO(O)D, because these concepts standing solitary as meta ideas are just too complex for you to fully comprehend, grasp or operate within. They are slippery, elusive and vast and the more you try to grab hold of them the more they wiggle away, tarnished by things that are lesser then themselves. As an incarnate consciousness, having been granted this experience in the physical, the metaphysics of good and truth just don’t compute fully, they are contexts pretending to be absolutes and are never fully integrated or sustainable due to the nature of the flipside of life where exuberant experience is accompanied by suffering, difficulty and struggle. But no matter what happens beauty is there. It glimmers indestructible and far more available to the earth bound us. There are no situations at all that don’t at least hold a melancholic poetic beauty within them, and beauty can no more be destroyed than go(o)d and truth can. Become conscious of it. Seek it willingly. Attune your brain to recognize and appreciate beauty and follow it to the clean places it leads. How to discern it from the temporary style of the times? That which is replaceable is fashion, that which is not is elegance and beauty – and the latter have very little to do with the plastic surface of things. They are an eternal logic of order.
