Listen. If you get quiet enough and stop ignoring the warnings you’ll hear your body telling you what it needs. We can pretend not to notice and find excuses for the grease soaked fried sugar pumped processed stuff and label it as a treat, indulgence we deserve after a hard day, we can chalk it up to the lack of time to prepare something from scratch because we’re “busy”, but this self-deception benefits no one but the people selling you garbage and making you sick.
For anyone who’s ever experienced a full body break down, all systems down we all know it didn’t come all at once. It came as a result of systematically ignoring the signs. We might have noticed for months, years or even a lifetime that some foods don’t sit well with us. It might be after a big bowl of fatty meat, it might be after a whole bunch of eggs, after binging on ice cream, cheese or milk, after eating grains or highly processed mimics of food. Every body and everybody is different and what might feel good for me might not feel good for you. But there is a guide line that is universal, outside the handful of individuals on this planet – plant based diet. Ask yourself what I going on with your system. No lies, no rationalizations, like a silent retreat with ourselves where we don’t seek attention, gratification or elaborate stories to cover up our own tracks fro ourselves. Truth works absolutely everywhere.
Your full body collapse might have (or is starting) as a gut reaction, a brain fog and not being alert and awake, or even trouble remembering simple things or finding words, it might be heart palpitations, skin issues, mental health issues, mood swings, sudden unexplained weight gain or weight loss, cravings of the type where you feel self-control is non existent which are actually hormone imbalances or gut bacteria issues, you might mistake your PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) for PMS, you might just feel sluggish and depleted after you eat. This is not what food is supposed to do. You’re not supposed to have a feeling like you need to sleep it off. You should feel satiated, awake and content after eating. You should feel recharged and be able to continue on with your day without the heaviness. There is no one size fits all but plant based diet fixes 14 of the 15 most prevalent life threatening illnesses and causes of death worldwide. The only one plant based diet is powerless against in these 15 is accidents. It helps every single medical issue known to us. Once you clean up the energy source everything else starts to fall into place and what the medicine of the West deemed as chronic, lifelong, or incurable starts reversing.
Food is not just calories and if you’ve ever talked to a nutritionist who told you that it’s only about a mathematical equation of calorie intake and the ones burnt, thank them kindly for their services and move on. Food is information, complex chains of instructions for the body and its systems. If you’ve ever had a feeling that meat being fried smells kind of sad and you feel a bit sad and tired afterwards it’s information you’ve picked up and it’s true. A cat will play with a half-alive mouse before eating it not because it is a jerk or a sadist but because the meat of the mouse is flooded by stress hormones and the cat won’t eat dirty meat. We do, because no one ever allows us to see what really goes on in industrialized farming. There are actual laws which prevent you from seeing behind the curtain.
If you or someone you know is suffering from a diagnosed or undiagnosed issue it’s almost certain that a diet change can drastically help. Go and see a holistic medical practitioner in your area if you don’t want to go through this alone. You’ll need to be willing to unlearn the food culture you’ve been born into. It’s a lifestyle change, it’s a thinking shift, it’s an opening and new possibilities, not a restriction. You may need to battle the surroundings if you evolve or even let them go because the constant pushing of the same old things is making you ill or miserable. You may need to grow alone and then go back and pull them up. If this seems like too much to handle right now you can just try going plant based for a month. Start slowly or all at once, choose a pace you’re comfortable with and that makes it an experiment and a joyous exploration and not a sentence to suffering. You won’t be hungry. You’ll actually eat more, sped less and after about 3-4 days your taste bud sensitivity to the real tastes of food will start to return when it’s not bombarded by additives, food dies, tons of added sugars, flavour enhancers, the hormones garbage and antibiotic traces in mass produced meat. Start with baby steps, if you fall do as the baby does, just pick yourself up, learn more and fall better the next time. If you’re falling forward you can see what you’ll hit and how far away the mark is. The planet already gave us what we need to feel our best. It came from the earth, not a factory.
